Somebody That I Used to Know (dBerrie Remix)

I found this awesome remix of the song “Somebody That I Used to Know” recently. I love the contrast of the hypnotic beat with the haunting lyrics of the original song.  While I like to think I used the Internet for productive ventures, in reality, I mostly prowl the web in search of new music. I would say I’m a big fan of electronic/house music, so I mostly frequent sites geared towards that genre. I’ve noticed that music usually happens in cycles. In middle school/high school, angsty alternative bands were incredibly popular.  Now, I feel that dance music is everywhere; if you just turn on the radio, you can hear snippets of previously avoided beats in otherwise generic pop songs. Because I am from Miami, I also am aware of one of the biggest dance parties out there, Ultra Music Festival. While Ultra conjures up images of raving teens and an excess of drugs, it has become even more popular lately with the rise of electro music. In fact, Madonna even made an appearance at the festival this year. If dance music can capture the attention of such an icon, it is sure to have a long and exciting future ahead. The rave scene, with all of its hazards and grime, is not exactly appealing to me, so I will continue my pursuit of music, such as this song, from the safety of my computer.
